Don Washington was born in 1948 in Ward, West Virginia, to Kathryn and Robert Washington. Growing up in a large family with nine brothers and one sister, Don learned the values of hard work, resilience, and determination from an early age.
In 1968, Don was drafted into the United States Army, where he served honorably during the Vietnam War. After completing his military service, he relocated to Cleveland, Ohio—a move that would set the stage for a lifelong passion.
It was in Cleveland that Don discovered his love for motor vehicles. Almost immediately, he immersed himself in the world of drag racing, starting in the early days when it was still “sand drag” racing. Over the course of the next 55 years, Don has owned and raced multiple cars, traveling to compete at tracks across the country.
Through dedication, skill, and a relentless drive to compete, Don Washington has built a legacy that spans decades, leaving an indelible mark on the sport he loves.
